On Brand – 14 June 26

🍴:

Mon – chicken and rice bake with fennel, mushrooms, and peas as inspired by this

Tues – I had an event, so rando snacks, while Hampton had leftovers from Teeter Thai.

Wed – basicass turkey taco Wednesday from Hampton before my Annwig rehearsal

Thurs – I left work early for the big night, so cooked an early linner when Hampton got off work of chicken valdostana.

Fri – burgers and fries

Sat – bay scallops and sugar snap peas with linguine

Sun – merguez with grilled veg and halloumi and tzatziki. For awhile, I have been on the newsletter list for José Andrés’ “Greek grandmother”, Aglaia Kremezi. She was largely responsible for the menu at Zaytina, which is one of the main reasons I was sad to leave D.C. I was saddened this week to receive the newsletter from her husband after her death. You can read Chef José’s remembrance here. When I was trying to to narrow down recipes in Aglaia’s honor on the one day I got really cook this week, I was inspired by our fridge and freezer to lean on this.

🥃: since I don’t drink during shows, the two glasses of Vernaccia di San Gimignano I had while cooking dinner after strike were 🧑‍🍳💋

🐶: this old guy. He sleeps a lot more — except overnight — and he’s rather slow, but he still gets the zoomies when he gets out of his den, and he still loves to be with his people.

📚: I didn’t finish anything new this week but I am in the middle of both a drama and a white lady thriller on NetGalley. More coming soon now that I feel less guilty reading something that isn’t the Hedwig track.

🎭: a whirlwind second week of Hedwig & the Angry Inch.

Tuesday, we did a promo event at the Carolina Theatre before they showed the movie.

Wednesday was my Annwig rehearsal and Jenny took some amazing pics.

Thursday was the Big Day and… wow. Will have more to say on this later but thank you thank you thank you to all the friends who came and were so gracious.

Jenny, Suzanne, and I chat all day but are so rarely in the same actual room. Hashtag introvert social club

The rest of the run was a delight. Two people who have seen (and even directed) me in a lot of things said it was my best work ever. I love this part and I would play it opposite Ethan forever.

The OG and movie Yitz with the Tony-award winning Broadway Yitz who went in as Hedwig one night a week on the national tour.
Who wants to photoshop me in.

On top of all of this, I went to an audition Saturday…stay tuned.
