🍴:
Mon – a WFH day meant weeknight polpo e patate thanks to our fave sous vide recipe. Served with crispy haystack potatoes and arugula salad.
Tues – pork tenderloin with duck fat smashed sweet potatoes and sautéed zucchini
Wed – grilled chicken thighs topped with spinach artichoke dip (because I ate all the tortilla chips so Hampton couldn’t have it for a snack as planned), served with roasted Brussels
Thurs – branzino with a bean purée, sautéed zucchini
Fri – boxed mac and cheese with hot Italian sausage, arugula salad
Sat – pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels
Sun – cast/Super Bowl/Hampton’s early birthday party!
- Roast beef and Swiss sliders inspired by this.
- Spicy Honey Garlic Crock Pot Lil Smokies from this list.
- Turkey chili à la Hampton with plenty of Rancho Gordos.
- A vegetarian bean and cabbage soup for our veg neighbor (and my lunches this week). The InstantPot recipe I used was a bit off because the beans were mushier than I liked, so will keep playing here.
- Chips, veggies, store bought dips, classic store bakery cupcakes with football rings, frozen boneless wings — because we were getting all this on the table after a matinee and strike.
🥃: Rehearsals and shows mean All The Water And Tea, which meant the two glasses of Lambrusco I had at the party tasted that much better. And then I had three more mugs of tea. Party on.

📚: This week’s reading highlight was We Won’t All Survive, by Kate Alice Marshall. A fun thriller for young readers, it had some powerful memories of a mass shooting event and dealt really casually — in the best way — with a trans character. I enjoyed all these kids very much.
Excited this week to be out of (non-improv) shows and back into more reading. Maybe I will finally get to the Kate Alice Marshall hard copy book a friend brought to our new year party that’s been on the floor beside my bed for over a month now.
🎭: Well, The Seagull stopped briefly in town on its migration. As I have said before, this cast was just outstanding. What amazing work they all put in and with such good attitudes.

Again, there is much more I would like to say about the whole experience, but you’ll have to talk to me in person.

This week brings some Mystery Men shows, and I’ll be judging an artist showcase for Kintura continuing care retirement communities, which should be a delight!
We’re to have another murder mystery at the end of the month, but sales are slow. If you’re looking for a silly night out in a cute little speakeasy, I promise the actors will only talk to you as much as you want. Info here!
