🍴:
Mon – shrimp and asparagus risotto to use up a bag of aging asparagus and the rest of that Riesling a friend left.
Tues – gyro/taco shenanigans stuffing tortillas with seasoned ground turkey mixed with chopped up pre-made gyro meat that needed to be used up. Tzatziki, a cucumber/radish relish, and air-fried Brussels to complete.
Wed – pork tenderloin with a ridiculously tasty Frankensteined pan sauce using up two random leftover minty sauces in the fridge, mashed potatoes, and sauteed shaved Brussels and fennel.
Thurs – TJ’s frozen miso cod with roasted gochuchang carrots and salad with Japanese dressing.
Fri – boneless chicken thighs grilled with Carolina Gold bbq sauce, grilled zucchini, and corn.
Sat – We both had late lunches, so instead of cooking before going to a show an hour away, I found a random sports bar near the theatre. Bar food salad dressing and crinkle fries FTW. As a bonus, some of the muted tvs were showing WrestleMania. Much like the water puppet show we saw in Vietnam, it was most hilarious because we had absolutely no idea what was being said.
Sun – no cooking because dinner party! Friends had us over to show off their new patio water effect — complete with fishies — and share some Vietnamese goodies. Five stars to La Maison Nguyen-Plant.
🥃: I had to scramble between rehearsal and the dinner party so for my BYOB, I threw some of the tea I brought back from Vietnam into a heat-proof jar with a pour spout, boiled water right quick, and took a strainer along. Might be my new fave way to batch tea.
🐶: These were two separate nights. Pack life, best life for these two. (Raspberry likes to put herself to bed and call dibs as if she’s not the smallest of all of us.)

📚: A slow novel week, but I did spend some time cleaning my emails and knocked out a variety of short stories. Excited to talk about the romantic crime ARC from one of my fave murder writers next week — stay tuned.
🎭: It’s official!

Tickets for this night here. But if you’ve never seen the show before, do see Ethan, as he’s just brilliant.
The same day the official swap night posted, my actual husband and participated in a retirement community’s Shakespeare festival, reading scenes from Much Ado About Nothing.

And that same night, there was also Fantasticks rehearsal.
Coincidentally, these were all on the same day as the birth of my favorite director, Charlie Smith. Send him all the best wishes because he is a wonderful, thoughtful person who reads even more than I do. He has teased that he may start blogging again soon, and I so hope he does.
In audience life… life… Saturday night, Hampton and I went to see Theatre Guild of Rockingham County’s Puffs, starring one of the actresses he directed in last fall’s one-act festival, and directed by “Mark” from my second Rent — and who I saw absolutely nail the role again at this same theatre a few weeks ago.
All we knew going into the show was that it was a parody of a certain wizard of school written by she who shall not be named. We did not know it was going to be so dang funny. Lots of terrible amazing puns and random one-liners even from the youngest and least experienced cast members. Primed with the hilarity of WrestleMania, we laughed ‘til we cried.
