Skimming theSkimm

I have to give a shoutout to one of the things that gets me through the day (besides coffee and corgimutts): theSkimm.

Started a few years back by some young women with a passion for storytelling (my favorite!) and fried artichokes (a close second favorite to storytelling!), it’s an e-newsletter that hits your inbox every weekday with concise summaries of the news and current events peppered with healthy doses of fun pop culture allusions.  They also Skimm larger issues, like the opioid crisis and the year’s Supreme Court decisions, in longer-format guides.

Sign up here for your own daily copy!

Full disclosure: yes, there are prizes for signing people up. I finally became a Skimm’bassador and got my official tote a few weeks ago just in time to celebrate their fifth anniversary! ….But please, trust me, it took long enough to reach that first level that I’m totally sharing this for your benefit and not just to earn a free t-shirt (:

Teal people are the best people.

If you’d like to read more about the founders or check out some back issues, you can do that before signing up. Their Instagram is great, too! But, really, just sign up. It’s good for your brain and a great way to ease into your day!
