Last week was a bit derailed due to a family visit. And then we had a show this Sunday and ballet on Monday and here we are at Wednesday. I know you’re dreadfully upset.
🍴:
Mon – new mustard and dill sausages from our faves at Smoke City Meats, tots, arugula + pickled beets, kraut
Tues – shrimp and orzo with a delightful creamy caper sauce, arugula salad
Wed – pork tenderloin with a mushroom sauce, roasted acorn squash, arugula salad
Thurs – rosemary potato chip-crusted chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and the only green beans Hampton has ever inhaled. Kids food, but make it fancy.
Fri – NY strips with house brussels (shredded, cooked in bacon fat, goat cheese, dried currants)
Sat – balsamic and mustard grilled chicken things with tapenade, crispy potatoes, and arugula salad
Sun – pork tenderloin with a warm kale/caramelized fennel/apple salad with spiced pecans and sharp cheddar
🥃: my first Cauldron Creations subscription box arrived and I haven’t taken the time to dive in. For shame! I did hang the included mojo bag for prosperity and abundance, at least.

📚: re: the family visit above, my eldest niece asked to come down from PA to celebrate her 21st at the local children’s museum’s monthly adult night. And the theme this month?? BOOK CLUBBING! Madison is also a reader, so this was kismet.
In honor of the upcoming Bookmarks festival, there were popup book sales tables through the museum and book-themed activities like making an ornament and a logic game most of us hated — do enough activities and get a free book! I picked up what appeared to be the last white lady thriller. I probably should have gotten something more academic, but the heart wants what the heart wants.
Also, there was book trivia and my good friend Jenny and I were battling back and forth for the top of the leaderboard from the jump. And then I made a dumb mistake and she then made a slightly less dumb one and it was all downhill from there. Still fun. I suppose 😜
🎭: Hampton’s post-college, local directorial debut closed with many compliments. His script and actors were so polished. V proud.
We had a murder mystery at a great venue in Greensboro Sunday night, with an acquaintance I recommended jumping into the mix — and he was as faboo as the audience!
Before the show, Ethan and I discussed more ideas for HEDWIG, take 3. Plus, a theatre friend was in attendance and two other potential productions were floated. Shenanigans, they are afoot!
