🍴:
Mon – grilled chicken thighs and crispy herb butter oyster mushrooms with arugula and labneh.
Tues – one of our fave takeaways from Vietnam was banana flower, sliced up into salads. We both hate bananas, but were stoked to find the flower at Super G last weekend. We added it and green mango to slaw mix with a fish sauce/lime vin and served with baked enokis and grilled calamari.

Wed – bresaola/burrata/arugula salad inspired by a special at Quiet Pint last weekend, plus a piccata-y fettuccini.
Thurs – we went out to Sage & Salt to cash in on a dessert I won via IG in December, and also use the gift card Hampton’s sister’s family got us for Christmas when she saw me post about winning the dessert. After that we went to the opening of the art show of a UNCSA film art faculty member who was kind to me at the climbing gym when I first started that I had the tiniest part helping with. We then had a drink on 4th Street before heading back to the same building to finally see a friend’s short film as part of RiverRun.
Fri – leftover carnitas turned into enchiladas + slaw
Sat – wienerschnitzel and pan roasted potatoes + an arugula, pickled beet, and goat cheese salad

Sun – rack of lamb inspired by Julia Child and Gordon Ramsay, served with potatoes crisped up with veal demi glacé and a take on this salad. Also feat. French breakfast radishes and cultured butter and a wine from our 10-year trip.
🥃: Hampton was convinced we needed to serve lacryma christi for Easter. Make your own jokes, if you can.
🐶: I bathed all three dogs by myself which is definitely noteworthy. Libby hates baths the most but stayed snugged up to me the rest of the afternoon while I read and Raz angrily defended her spot on the couch for a bit but then tucked up next to the warm George since all the blankets then also got a wash.

📚: happy pub week to Things Left Unsaid by Sara Jafari. I really, really enjoyed this book. Even the terrible microaggression/white woman tears parts. They were almost harder to read than the actual aggression parts because they’re so rarely acknowledged IRL. The growing pains of late-20s life was very relatable, and I loved the tension trying to get to what actually happened to ruin Shirin and Kian’s friendship in the past. Lots of feels. More books like this, please.
🎭: As mentioned, we finally saw our friend Adam’s movie! We are probably biased, but it was so. dang. good. Order for Ben is the story of a trans man trying to have coffee with his dad, and Adam and his co-director Kristina showed real skill in not making things too preachy or heavy handed. He did an excellent job acting Ben’s anxiety, but, wow, the actor who played his (confused) father. There was a lot of real depth there in a role that could have been played totally one note. So powerful.
